Sanctuary Saturday: Rap Yoga, DJ and Sound-Healing Meditation
An all-levels vinyasa flow set to rap with a live DJ, followed by a sound-healing meditation, at Flow Life Sanctuary in Venice. Saturday 26 September, 3:30 p.m. Donate what you can.
Two nonprofits put this on together — WisdoMania Foundation and Flow Life Sanctuary, the Venice space on Lincoln Boulevard — and the format is a single arc across three hours rather than a class with an add-on.
Mashi Cohen leads the first half: an all-levels vinyasa flow built around rap and music, with a live DJ set by X. ARI playing under it. X. ARI then leads the second half, a restorative sound-healing meditation to wind down and settle. The organisers describe it as open to everyone with no experience necessary, which reads as sincere given the pricing.
On tickets: the first 25 were complimentary and the organiser says those have gone, so what is left is the donate-what-you-can option. Donations go towards keeping the programming accessible, so pay what the session is worth to you rather than assuming free means free of obligation.
Bring a mat, water and something comfortable. Free street parking is usually available on Lincoln and the surrounding streets, though a Saturday afternoon in Venice can test that.
Worth knowing: three hours is a long sit-and-move combination, and the second half is spent lying down. A layer and something to put under your head will be more welcome than you expect.
