Our pick is Lumeria Maui, an educational retreat center at 1813 Baldwin Avenue in Makawao, sitting upcountry at roughly 1,500 feet above the coast. It's a restored 1910 plantation estate with 24 guest rooms, a farm-to-table restaurant (The Wooden Crate), spa and healing services, and a weekly class calendar covering yoga, meditation, healing arts, horticulture and Hawaiian culture. Lumeria's own site and Hawaii Guide both list group retreat rates starting from $369 per night; individual room rates are handled through their booking system rather than published as a flat figure.
If you would rather travel with a teacher than book a center, Ana Netanel of Shakti Sound Bath runs a women's retreat on the Big Island instead of Maui, based at Hale Nia and built around sound healing and swimming with wild dolphins. It is a different proposition from Lumeria: a small group led by one LA practitioner, not a retreat center with a standing timetable.
