Asana Alignment Workshop at Sivananda Yoga Los Angeles
A 90-minute workshop with Swami Gangananda on alignment in Sun Salutations, Headstand, Shoulderstand and Triangle, in Santa Monica or on Zoom.
Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center Los Angeles is running a 90-minute alignment workshop on a Sunday afternoon, led by Swami Gangananda. It looks at four postures: Sun Salutations, Headstand, Shoulderstand and Triangle Pose.
The center’s description works through each posture in three steps: preparing and coming into it, holding it with control, then coming out and relaxing. The stated aim is to understand how your body, mind and breath work within a posture rather than simply getting into it.
You can take it in person at the Santa Monica center or online. Online registrants get a Zoom link at least an hour before the class. The center’s own registration form lists it at $25, or $20 on a sliding scale, and the same workshop runs again on Sunday 15 November at the same time.
Worth knowing: Headstand and Shoulderstand are inversions, so if you have a neck injury or a condition affected by being upside down, tell the teacher before class. The organizer notes that metered parking on Broadway is free on Sundays.
MyLAyoga does not run this event and takes no booking. The link goes straight to the organizer.
