Wellness & Waves: Free Run and Yoga at the Santa Monica Pier

The Santa Monica Pier's free Saturday series: a 1, 2 or 3 mile group run at 8 a.m., then an all-levels yoga or mat Pilates class at the pier's West End from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 10.

Wellness & Waves is the Santa Monica Pier Corporation’s free Saturday morning series, presented by UCLA Health. It has run every Saturday since April, skipping holiday weekends, and October 10 is the second-to-last session of the season; the last is October 17.

The morning comes in two halves. At 8 a.m. a group run sets off from under the Pier Yacht Harbor sign, with 1, 2 and 3 mile distances so you can pick your own. At 9 a.m. the pier’s West End turns into a class: yoga led by shefayoga Venice or mat Pilates with Good Body Pilates, open to all levels. The organizer does not say in advance which of the two a given Saturday will be, so come ready for either. You can do just the class and skip the run.

It is free, but the pier asks everyone to register on Eventbrite first. Bring your own mat, a towel and a water bottle, and a layer: the end of the pier is exposed, and October mornings on the water often start grey and cool.

MyLAyoga does not run this event and takes no booking. The link goes straight to the organizer, whose page links to the free registration.
