4 yoga studios in West LA
Sound bath Artha Yoga and Wellness Sanctuary
A membership wellness club at the West Edge plaza in West LA, combining yoga, mat pilates, HIIT, cryotherapy and sound bath sessions; non-members can also reserve a class.
Sculpt CorePower Yoga Wilshire
On Wilshire near Bundy, upstairs. One of the larger rooms in the chain's Westside set, running heated power classes and weighted sculpt on a full daily schedule.
Flow Laughing Frog Yoga
A second-floor studio on Santa Monica Boulevard that takes the practice seriously and itself not very. All levels are genuinely welcome and the beginner classes are a real entry point rather than a slower flow. Goat yoga and puppy yoga turn up on the calendar, as do hikes, bike rides and beach days, and there are outdoor classes at Marine Park in Santa Monica.
Ashtanga Yoga Shala West
A traditional Ashtanga shala on National Boulevard, and one of the few places in LA running a proper Mysore-style morning programme: you arrive any time in the window and work through your own practice with the teacher moving between students, rather than following a led class. Led practice is Friday. The shala rests on the new and full moon, as the lineage does. Founder Pranidhi Varshney studied with Manju Jois, Nancy Gilgoff and Sharath Jois.
