Body Flows' Bali Sacred Journey is a five-night yoga retreat in Ubud, September 12 to 17, 2027. It is led by Sally Mitchell, who founded Body Flows in Sonoma, California, has taught yoga since 2010 and has led retreats since 2014. She spent three weeks living and travelling in Bali in July 2025 and built this retreat around what she found there.

The group stays at Gayatri Ubud, a boutique art hotel in the centre of Ubud, set back from the main road and within walking distance of the town's shops and cafes. Each day starts with vinyasa yoga and meditation and ends with yin yoga and yoga nidra. Two of the days are group trips to nearby rice paddies, waterfalls and Balinese temples, with transport included, and the rest of the time is yours.

MyLAyoga does not run this retreat. Enquiries come to us first: tell us which room you want and we confirm availability, the current price and how to register with Body Flows, then follow up with you ourselves.

What the five nights are built around

Yoga twice a day

Mornings are vinyasa flow for all levels, with options for backbends, arm balances and inversions if you want them. Evenings are yin yoga and yoga nidra, with guided meditation through the week.

Two day trips, transport included

Group excursions to rice paddies, waterfalls and Balinese temples near Ubud. On the other days the late morning is free.

In the middle of Ubud

Gayatri Ubud is an art hotel in the centre of town but set back from the road, so the palace, market and cafes are a walk away.

An open-air yoga shala

Classes are held in the hotel's open-air shala, with mats, blocks, straps and bolsters there to use.

Vegan breakfasts and dinners

Plant-based, organic breakfasts and dinners every day, drawn from Balinese cooking. Gluten-free can be arranged if you ask ahead.

A pool between sessions

Free time by the hotel's pool, or massage at the front desk or one of the spas a few minutes' walk away, at your own cost.

Questions guests ask before booking.

What does it cost?

Prices are per person, not per room: $1,995 for a standard room on your own, $1,595 each for two sharing a standard room's queen bed, $1,795 each for two in a family room, $1,595 each for three and $1,495 each for four. Body Flows takes $100 off if you register by December 31, 2026. A $500 non-refundable deposit holds your place and the balance is due 90 days before the retreat.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Book the standard room for yourself, or a double place in a family room and Body Flows will pair you with another solo guest of the same sex. Shared rooms are women only unless you book the whole room with a friend or partner. The triple, quadruple and standard double rooms are for friends or family sharing beds.

How do I get there from Los Angeles?

There is no nonstop from LAX to Bali, so plan a 20-plus hour trip with a connection to Denpasar (DPS), and leave LAX about two days before check-in, since you cross the date line. Ubud is about 1 to 1.5 hours by road from the airport. The transfer is not included; Body Flows can arrange it for an extra cost.

When does it start and end?

Check-in is from 3 pm on September 12, with the first class at 4 pm. The retreat ends after breakfast on September 17, with check-out from 10 am.

Do I need yoga experience?

No. Classes are for all levels, with modifications offered. Guests must be 18 or older, and the retreat is non-smoking, vaping included.

What is the cancellation policy?

All payments are non-refundable. If you cancel more than 90 days before the start, your payments may move to another Body Flows retreat if they can fill your place. Body Flows strongly recommends travel insurance with Cancel For Any Reason cover.
