Manduka GRP Adapt yoga mat
Manduka’s open-cell mat. Its polyurethane top takes sweat in rather than letting it sit, so grip holds as you get wet: of the PRO, PROlite, eKO and GRP, this is the one for hot yoga.

Who it suits
- You practise hot, or sweat hard in a vigorous class. An open-cell surface takes a little moisture in, so grip rises as you dampen instead of falling away. Of the five Manduka mats our guide compares, it is the only one that is not closed-cell.
- You want a wide mat. Manduka cuts it 26 inches wide, two more than the PROlite.
- You would rather skip the mat towel. On a closed-cell mat a towel is what fixes sweat; here the surface is built to do that job.
Who should look elsewhere
- You are sensitive to latex. Manduka lists latex in it and does not recommend it for latex sensitivities. The PRO series is latex-free. See the PROlite →
- You want a mat that keeps looking new. Manduka warns that sweat, skin oils and lotions can soak into the surface and leave visible marks.
- You practise dry and want a mat that forgives rough handling. It is the fussiest in the range to clean, and a closed-cell mat is easier to live with if you do not sweat. See the eKO →

Caring for it
Polyurethane is the fussiest surface in the range: wipe it after every practice, never scrub it, never soak it, and expect a long dry. The mat-care guide has the full table, material by material.
What we can tell you, and what we cannot
We have not practised on the Manduka GRP Adapt. Nobody here owns one, and this page is not a hands-on review. The numbers are Manduka’s. What we add is the consequence of them, which is the reasoning in our Manduka guide: whether you sweat decides between an open-cell and a closed-cell surface before anything else does, and weight is what decides whether a mat goes to class or stays home. The yoga mat buying guide sets out the same rules for any brand.
